Looking back on these photos makes my heart swell for Lake Garda. I want to go as far to say that Garda may have been my favorite place in Italy, but I kind of feel like I’m cheating on Rome. We drove from Salò to Riva del Garda, which is the most northern town on the lake, making stops along the way at a couple of the little towns on the east side of Garda. The drive itself was spectacular and though we were gone for the better part of the day, it was relaxing to do next to nothing but absorb all the beauty Garda had to offer. We stopped in the charming town of Limone, which looked like it came straight out of a storybook. Who knew window shutters could have so much influence over your excitement? The narrow cobblestone walkways winded through ivy and flower covered buildings, rotating mostly between gelaterias and pizzarias.
We continued to Riva del Garda where the sights were breath taking with it’s vast mountain range and quaint little town. It almost felt like we were in the alps. After walking around for a bit we found a little restaurant that was off of the main strip and in true Italian form, had a lunch that lingered while we people watched and enjoyed the sweetness of doing nothing. This day vied for best day on our honeymoon.
