I’m stunned to know that anyone could take or leave Florence. Looking back on these photos reaffirms my love for this city and the wonderful time we had there. We drove from Lake Garda, which makes me laugh now thinking of absolutely insane it was to drive in Florence (without navigation), but now it just adds to the story. One of my best friends and her family were wrapping up their time in Florence when we arrived so on our first night there we planned a dinner at Bucca Mario, which was certifiably amazing. It was so much fun getting together with my second family and sharing such a fun experience in the cave-like restaurant. My mouth still waters thinking about the Florentine steak and truffle pasta Shannan and I shared. If you’re ever in Florence, this restaurant is to not miss!
My infatuation with massive Catholic churches began the summer I lived in Sevilla, where the cathedral was the center of the town and oftentimes a meeting point for friends. When deciding where in Florence to stay, I was searching for places that were close to the Duomo. It’s not every day in life that you get to be taken aback by age old architecture; being able to marvel at it’s ornate detail and massive size made every day in Florence feel rich.
Also within a five minute walk of our Airbnb was this adorable daily market where picnic tables were scattered about where people would order food or wine from prospective vendors and sit down wherever there was room. Shannan and I spent a few afternoons there where we would order a bottle of wine, try different baked good, delicious food (paella – one of my favorites!) and people watch. This has to be one of my favorite things about traveling anywhere, just slowing down and enjoying simple things.

When I was planning on what to bring on our honeymoon, it was important for me to have simple but stylish outfits so I packed mostly dresses since it’s a whole outfit in one piece. A lot of people were asking where I got my clothes for our trip, and 90 percent was recycled from thredUP. I’ve found some of my favorite pieces for the most special occasions at thredUp, which is why I’ve teamed up with my favorite company to offer 50% off first time shoppers on all dresses, just like this one!
